PREPARE THE FUTURE: PUT EDUCATION AND DEVELOPMENT IN FRONT

SCRIPTURE: “Until I come, give attention to the public reading of Scripture, to exhortation and teaching.” (1 Timothy 4:13 NIV)

QUOTE: Education is the passport to the future, for tomorrow belongs to those who prepare for it today. – Malcolm X

NOTE:

According to the PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC) report, 41 percent of CEOs believe a skilled workforce should be a government priority, but nearly two-thirds have found the need to task their own companies to do so. Some companies have taken a more DIY (Do It Yourself) approach to development for decades by creating their own corporate universities, such as Hamburger University, created by McDonald’s in 1962, and General Electric’s Crotonville, launched in 1956.

Other options used by these major corporations include rotational programs such as Ford’s College Graduate program. This allows recent graduates, and even more tenured employees, to experience different roles and become better-rounded within the company.

Their interest in training future leaders has placed them as global firms for over a century now. It is only wisdom we learn from these people. Praise God as a church we are committed to this vision but we can do more. Every opportunity availed us is a chance to prepare the future and position Word Assemble for the years to come.

ILLUSTRATION:

In 2Tim. 2:2 the bible says “And the things that thou hast heard of me among many witnesses, the same commit thou to faithful men, who shall be able to teach others also”. The Apostle Paul having perfect understanding of the need for education and continuous development charged his prodigy Timothy to pass on the knowledge gleaned from him to the next generation. This is the pattern and must continue for any organization yearning to remain relevant for many generations.

REFLECTION:

  1. How are you equipping those under you?
  2. Will your organization survive if you continue like this?
