SCRIPTURE: “Incline your ear, and come unto me: hear, and your soul shall live; and I will make an everlasting covenant with you, even the sure mercies of David.” (Isaiah 55:3 NIV)
QUOTE: “God is love, and as pure love, He is always inclusive, and I believe that we should be, too. -Mary Vasquez.
NOTE:
God is rich in mercy. The mercy of God is not a replacement for the justice of God. However, God wants to shower on you His extravagant love that far supersedes your weakness, frailty and hypocrisy. Believers in Christ must stop living in sin consciousness and embrace the mercy of God.
When we do wrong against God, we can always negotiate our pathway with the Lord on the altar of the mercy of God. Our weakness should actually drive us to God. Scriptures clearly declare the mercy have prevailed over judgment (James 2:13). There is so much available for us in the mercy of God than we can ever imagine.
It is gross spiritual arrogance to run away from the mercy of God. Christ is our merciful High Priest. Christ is touched by the feelings of our infirmities. You will notice a huge difference in the way Christ handled those who did wrong. Christ came to reveal the mercifulness of God to all of mankind.
ILLUSTRATION:
King David was a man after God’s own heart. This was because when David sinned, he acknowledged his sins, plead for mercy and finally turned his back from that sin . King David understood how to tap into the mercy of God. He understood that when he falls into a fault, the person he has sinned against is God and was wise and humble enough to go back to God for mercy than to pretend that nothing happened. David did not just receive pardon; he received the sure mercies.
REFLECTION:
- Today, are you willing take a detour from the path of compromise and embrace the ‘excess’ love of God.
