SCRIPTURE: “…. His fame spread far and wide, for the LORD gave him marvelous help, and he became very powerful. 2Chro. 26:15 (NLT)
QUOTE: A Companion who comprehends your tears is significantly more profitable than a ton of companions who “just know your grin.”’ Anonymous
NOTES:
In thinking over this topic my attention was drawn to the Scripture above as rendered in the NL Translation….. “For the Lord gave him marvelous help…’ Most times we quote such Scriptures like Gen. 2:18; Ecc. 4:9-12 in wedding ceremonies as referring to couples, but little did we know that God never intended it to be so narrowed in usage. Everyone who has ever lived well and finished well on this earth knows the value of forming good human relationships; this is one of the surest gateways to achieving meaningful advancement in life. How well you perform depends largely on how well you are able to relate with different kinds of people on your journey to fulfilling purpose.
No man really enjoys life being alone, because lone rangers often run into danger. Your future somehow largely depends on the kind of relationships you cultivate. God has so structured it that you can’t really survive, let alone living well without a well thought-out relationship. Having the right kind of relationship have a way of helping you achieve the right kind of results in life. There are certain goodies you may never enjoy in life except you have certain people who are interested in your well-being. Your well-being in life can be a product of your relationship well-being.
ILLUSTRATION:
Relationship or friendship operates on give and take principle. Someone somewhere is holding something which belongs to you, your inability to relate well robs you of that. You must find a more pragmatic way to relate!
REFFLECTION:
- How flexible or rigid are you lately to new relationships?
- Do you wait for ‘new’ people to warm up to you or do you take the first step?
