SCRIPTURE: “But evil men and seducers shall wax worse and worse, deceiving, and being deceived.” (2 Timothy 3:13 (KJV)
QUOTE: Things come apart so easily when they have been held together with lies.” -Dorothy Allison
NOTE:
The crash or falling apart of any leader who is a chronic liar is always closer than they thought. That is why leaders involved in lying always want to greedily grip as much as they can because they know their time is unusually short and if the system notices their acts they can easily be sent packing. Our text today explains that most people tell lies in order to deceive others, but the liars are also being deceived.
This is because every liar first and foremost is deceiving himself/herself. Most times they forget that these lies are told in the presence of the all-knowing God, who cannot be deceived. Let’s focus more on duplicitous lies. These lies are typical of people who break spoken promises and commitments. Duplicitous liars typically hide their true feelings and intentions behind false actions and words. These liars cause great damage to others. One way to protect yourself is try not expect too much from any man/woman. Don’t plan your life around a promise from a man. The reasons are obvious.
ILLUSTRATION:
“Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? Thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God.”
REFLECTION:
What life lessons did you learn from the account on Ananias and his wife?
