SCRIPTURE: “I am the good shepherd: the good shepherd giveth his life for the sheep.” (John 10:11 KJV)
QUOTE: “Be a lamp, or a lifeboat, or a ladder. Help someone’s soul heal. Walk out of your house like a shepherd.” – Rumi
NOTE:
Every leader must desire to be a good shepherd. You are a good shepherd when your leadership and shepherding style is like that of Christ. Leaders with a shepherd’s heart give extraordinary care to everyone on the team. They’re easy to talk to, and they have a knack for empathizing with others. They lead with the heart and have a servant attitude that uplifts everyone around them.
ILLUSTRATION:
God found in David a man with a good shepherd’s heart who will hazard his life to save the father’s flock under his care (1 Sam 17:34-36). God gave a testimony concerning the heart of David and how deserving he is as His chosen leader over His people, while despising another king in the person of Saul who was only concerned about himself like many leaders of today.
REFLECTION
- As a leader do you have the heart of a good shepherd?
- As a leader have you dealt with those self-seeking tendencies?
