SHEPHERDING RESPONSIBILITY 6

SCRIPTURE: “He will feed his flock like a shepherd. He will carry the lambs in his arms, holding them close to his heart. He will gently lead the mother sheep with their young. (Isaiah  40:11(NLT)

QUOTE: “A good shepherd always feeds his sheep first, even when he himself is hungry.” – Matshona Dhliwayo

NOTE:

A glimpse into the heart of a leader reveals that a leader must give up to go up. According to John C. Maxwell; there is no success without sacrifice. Every person who has achieved any success in life has made sacrifices to do so.” He adds, “The heart of leadership is putting others ahead of yourself. It’s doing what is best for the team.” If you are pursuing leadership for personal gain or recognition, then you are not, in reality, a quality leader.

ILLUSTRATION:

In the words of Philippians 2:5-8 – Let this mind be in you, which was also in Christ Jesus: Who, being in the form of God, thought it not robbery to be equal with God: But made himself of no reputation, and took upon him the form of a servant, and was made in the likeness of men:  And being found in fashion as a man, he humbled himself, and became obedient unto death, even the death of the cross.

REFLECTION:

  1. What is your priority as a leader; self or the people?
  2. What have you given up for the sake of your followers?
