SCRIPTURE: For the commandment is a lamp, and the law is light, and reproofs of instruction are the way of life. Proverbs 6:23
QUOTE: “What lies in our power to do, lies in our power not to do.” –Aristotle
NOTE:
We have come to a point of recognition from our text today that every child of God is scheduled to succeed in all aspects of life according to God’s ultimate master plan if they adhere to his commandments. Jer. 29:11. However, like any other scriptural process, there are always conditions that enable us to enjoy what God has promised or provided for us as leaders made in his image and likeness. What to do to get to where we desire in leadership can only be wrapped up in one word (i.e Discipline). So in order words, discipline is what every leader needs to engage in other to enjoy certain promises or benefits associated with their office. Discipline is strict adherence to instructions that is what to do to get what we want.
ILLUSTRATION:
This can be seen practically from the statement made by Jesus’ mother which was validated during the wedding in Cana of Galilee when the couple ran out of wine. She told the servants:….”whatsoever he saith unto you do it” (John 2:5). Adherence by the servants strictly to the instructions of Jesus (discipline) and then the turning of water into the big bath and finally taking some to give to the chairman of that occasion who eventually testified the best of wine was brought towards the end of wedding yielded a successful miracle for that couple in the wedding. Why? The discipline of following the instructions from the mouth of Jesus.
REFLECTION:
- Do you adhere to instructions or play with them?
