DISCIPLINE FOR SUCCESS 6

SCRIPTURE: Whoever heeds instruction is on the path to life, but he who rejects reproof leads others astray. (Proverbs 10:17)

QUOTE:  “A disciplined mind leads to happiness, and an undisciplined mind leads to suffering.” – Dalai Lama

NOTE:

Discipline pushes leaders to move forward most times beyond their limits and make them to want to heed to instructions. Let’s remember, that it is our task that determines the kind of approach we put into it. For instance, Nehemiah and the people never took off their clothes except for washing. They were on duty as demanded by that task to rebuild the broken wall of Jerusalem. We should, therefore, note that our dignity is a function of our discipline (Nehemiah 1:1-10, 4:15-16, 23). Therefore, we cannot make the most of any task that does not make specific demands on our lives (Nehemiah 4:23).

ILLUSTRATION:

Nehemiah was a man sold-out to his task and the well-being of the people of God. As an exemplary disciplined leader, he decided to ask a request from his boss the king to return to Jerusalem for the rebuilding of the walls upon hearing that the walls were destroyed. He led a revolutionary army that embarked on the rebuilding of the walls of Jerusalem and accomplished it only in fifty-two days.  As a result, he was promoted from a cupbearer to the governor of the nation. We must therefore, note that our dignity is a function of our discipline (Nehemiah 1:1-10, 4:15-16, 23).

REFLECTION:

How is this Scripture relevant to our Topic? “And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.”
