SCRIPTURE: “A man without self-control is like a city broken into and left without walls.” (Proverbs. 25:28)
QUOTE “We must all suffer one of two things: the pain of discipline or the pain of regret and disappointment.” –Jim Rohn
NOTE:
Discipline is self-control. We need to understand that highly disciplined people are “seamlessly” distinguished. Therefore, the more disciplined we are, the more distinguished we become. From diverse scriptural examples (Esther, Paul, Daniel, Joseph, etc) it is abundantly clear that it takes discipline to pay the extra price for extraordinary accomplishments in the race of life and to be distinguished.
ILLUSTRATION:
Esther was extremely disciplined that after Mordecai told her of Hamman’s plot to destroy the Jews she called for three days of fasting and afterward decided to go and see the king unannounced. The repercussion of this act is she could be killed. But considering the greater scale of what the Jews will face if Hamman’s plots come to pass, she went into the king’s chamber and finally exposed the traitor Hamman and rescued the Jews from going down the drain. Esther 4:16. By diligence and discipline she eon the heart of the king and stood as a source who helped to restore dignity to the Jews.
REFLECTION:
Do you hold onto the greater goal of the team or do you always look for your personal goals?
