SUCCESS POWER – SELF DISCIPLINE

SCRIPTURE: But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified. (I Corinthians 9:27, NKJV)

QUOTE:  Self-discipline is the magic power that makes you virtually unstoppable. – Anonymous

NOTES:

Without self-discipline, success is surely impossible. It is one of the most important and useful skills everyone aiming for success should possess. Self-discipline doesn’t mean being harsh towards yourself. On the contrary, it means self-control, which is a pointer to inner strength and control of your actions and reactions. It gives you the power to decide, stick to those decisions and follow them through, without changing your resolve.

Beloved, we need to be more discipline now than ever before. The global shot down can breed unnecessary bad habits, procrastination and laziness, that could stand as hindrance to achieving set objectives, if self-discipline is not practiced. One sure way to jump start disciplining self, is to constantly and periodically set goals. Goal setting will give direction to our life and activate inner strength to run through with them. Secondly, we should identify our distractions and stay clear from them. If you give yourself wholly to these, your success will be obvious to all.

ILLUSTRATION:

Philip Alfred Mickelson! He is one of the greatest golfers and putters to ever play the game. He doesn’t have a natural talent, but this man works his tail off often. He has one drill; to putts 100 three-footers in a row. If he misses one during that string of 100, he starts over. Severally, every day he tries, until the task is complete, he doesn’t leave the putting green. That was his little secret to be on the hall of fame of golfers. Sheer self-discipline!

REFLECTION:

What will you start doing today to set yourself up, on the path of self-discipline?
