OVERCOMING PROCRASTINATION: WORK TODAY!

SCRIPTURE: “Making the most of every opportunity, because the days are evil.” (Eph. 5:16 NIV)

QUOTE: “Chances are there are some things that trigger your tendencies to procrastinate. It is important you identify these things. And if possible, get rid of them.”  John Morgan.

NOTE:

A heart filled with procrastinating is never able to achieve a great height. If there is anything you need to keep watch of, it is time. Redeem time. Redeeming your time is setting yourself up to achieve tomorrow’s success today. Remember a good plan today is better than a perfect one tomorrow. No one celebrates tomorrow’s success. Keep track of your time because there is no extra time, life is not a game. Even the bible says in Ephesians 5:15-16 “see then that you walk circumspectly, not as fools but as wise, redeeming the time because the days are evil”. The scripture recognizes the importance of time and advises us in the above verses to recoup our time. Do things at the right time. Come to think of this, there are things you did today that you ought to have done yesterday and things you keep for tomorrow, today. Life is all about saving time. It is wealth.

There are things that make you procrastinate; unplanned goals, fear of success and failure, fear of the unknown and believing that you have all the time in the world. To overcome the evil of procrastination you need to set clear goals, as this will help you avoid unnecessary frustration and resentment. Develop the habit of prioritization, put your efforts on the majors rather than the minors. Insist on finishing every task at the right time by setting a deadline and staying committed to it. Face every task boldly and fearlessly.

ILLUSTRATION:

Remember your Creator in the days of your youth, before the days of trouble come and the years approach when you will say, “I find no pleasure in them”— (Ecc. 12:1 NIV)

REFLECTION:

What are steps you have decided to take to mitigate the evil of procrastination?
