GOAL SETTING 7

SCRIPTURE: “But we, brethren, being taken from you for a short time in presence, not in heart, endeavored the more abundantly to see your face with great desire. Wherefore we would have come unto you, even I Paul, once and again; but Satan hindered us.”  (1 Thessalonians 2:17-18 KJV)

QUOTE: “Obstacles are those fearful things you see when you take your eyes off the goal.” Henry Ford.

NOTE:

It is important to understand that as you set a goal, obstacles will emerge that want to stop you or discourage you from achieving your goal. You may experience a fear of rejection, a fear of failure or a fear of making a fool of yourself. You may experience roadblocks such as you don’t have all the money you need to move forward; your state or national government have laws that prohibit what you want to do, etc. These fears and roadblocks are not unusual, so do not see them as stop signs but rather as a normal part of the process that will always appear. In fact, they’re supposed and need to appear! If they don’t, it means that you haven’t set a goal that is big enough to stretch you and grow you.

ILLUSTRATION:

“And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water. And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus. But when he saw the wind boisterous, he was afraid; and beginning to sink, he cried, saying, Lord, save me.” (Matt. 14:28-30 NKJV)

REFLECTION:

  1. What are the obstacles before you in the pursuit of your goals?
  2. How do you tackle the obstacles
