TIME MANAGEMENT SKILLS 2: BE PROACTIVE WITH HOW YOU SPEND TIME

SCRIPTURE: “Redeeming the time, because the days are evil.” (Ephesians 5:16)

QUOTE: “I must govern the clock, not be governed by it.” -Golda Meir

NOTES:

The difference between the rich and the poor; the physically fit and the obese; the successful and the unsuccessful is how they use their time. The highly successful understands the value of time. There is a saying that time and tide waits for no man. It means that time once lost can never be regained. Time must always be utilized with good actions. One way we do this is by being proactive with how we spend time. Time is such that if you don’t use it, it will waste away. Time is lost when we’re not deliberate about how we use our time. By default, we are more likely to waste our time unless we chose to be deliberate about how we use our time. We must be deliberate to maximize our time. Having a to-do list; setting long term and short-term goals; planning etc. are some ways we can ensure that we’re proactive with how we use our time

ILLUSTRATION:

Time can be likened to an equalizer. In other words, no one has more or less than 24 hours in a day. The varying degrees of result we all have is determined by how we use our time. Those who are reactive in how they use time will not achieve much. However, those who are proactive with how they use their time will live a much-fulfilled life and accomplish much. Being proactive with how we use our time demands that we are not subject to our circumstances. Circumstances will be subject to us. We must be proactive in how we spend our time

REFLECTION:

  1. Are you proactive with how you use your time?
  2. Do you work with a to-do list? Are you given to planning and goal setting in order to properly utilize your time?
