SCRIPTURE: Making the very most of the time [buying up each opportunity], because the days are evil. (Ephesians 5:16 AMP)
QUOTE: “Your greatest asset is your earning ability. Your greatest resource is your time.” – Brian Tracy
NOTE:
Time is the only thing that never returns once you have spent it doing any work. It always flows in a forward direction, which means time is irreversible. We should never waste time. Most of us know that time can never be brought back, but we still waste it doing unnecessary things or doing nothing. All successful people respect time and understand the importance of time in life. One way we can better manage or maximize our time is to see time as a Resource.
Time is something that determines your present and your future. If you want to achieve your goals and live your dreams, managing time is the most important thing that one must learn and practice sincerely. It is very well said that Time is a non-renewable resource as once it’s gone, it cannot be brought back. Time is the most valuable resource you have. Rick Warren was right when he said “time is your most precious gift, because you only have a set amount of it.”
ILLUSTRATION:
Time as a resource can be likened to a Currency. Time can be used to trade for a specific desired result. Someone who wants a good marriage has to invest the resource of time into his or her marriage. Someone who wants to be a master in his field has to invest the resource of time in his field. In the book “Outliers: The Story of Success” by Malcolm Gladwell, he repeatedly refers to the “10,000-hour rule,” asserting that the key to achieving true expertise in any skill is simply a matter of practicing that skill for at least 10,000 hours. Whatever you desire to achieve will require that you trade off the resources of your time.
REFLECTION:
- Do you see time as a Resource? Do you see time as the most valuable Resource you have?
- What can you begin to do today to maximize your time resources?
