MENTORSHIP 1

SCRIPTURE: “Look unto Abraham your father, and unto Sarah that bare you: for I called him alone, and blessed him, and increased him. (Isaiah 51:2 KJV)

QUOTE: “Learning is finding out what you already know. Doing is demonstrating that you know it. Teaching is reminding others that they know just as well as you. You are all learners, doers, and teachers.” —Richard Bach

NOTE:

Mentorship is a vital force in the rising and raising up of giants in any field. If properly brooded, mentees churn out to even become better than their mentors. It positions the mentee for continuous progress, unending advancement, unstoppable enlargement. The moment you start despising your mentor, you disconnect from the virtues that has helped you up, then you could set yourself up for a slippery slope.

God is the author of mentorship as seen from our text today. Please note, mentors are life trainers that design your life to the kind of results you desire. Mentorship is looking up solely to the virtues you see in higher authorities, and following diligently to having them too. A crucial element and part of the packages in mentorship is availability and teachability.

ILLUSTRATION:

Abraham was a life trainer of all his servants. At the Valey of Seddims with the wars ongoing between the various kings that led to the capture of Lot, he went into swift action by the act of mentorship.  And when Abram heard that his brother was taken captive, he armed his trained servants, born in his own house, three hundred and eighteen, and pursued them unto Dan. And he brought back all the goods, and also brought again his brother Lot, and his goods, and the women also, and the people. – Genesis 14:14, 16. He trained all his choice servants on the acts of war so that they could get committed to the ways he has known, trailed and followed as he himself was led by God to become the father of all nations. Lot was rescued because Abraham his mentor showed up him.

REFLECTION:

How much value are you placing on all the trainings you have been undergoing?
