SCRIPTURE: “And what you have heard from me in the presence of many witnesses entrust to faithful men, who will be able to teach others also.” (2Tim. 2:2 KJV)
QUOTE: “If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader.” — John Quincy Adams
NOTE:
One of the most valuable advantages that come along with having a mentor is the network that they can help you build. For example, if you are a student in college who wants to get an internship to gain work experience, a mentor may be able to connect you to his or her network to be placed in a fitting position. With the advice and guidance of a mentor, mentees can avoid making mistakes that would otherwise occur. As they gain traction on the route to achieving their goals, they will develop leadership skills and opportunities to work in leadership positions.
ILLUSTRATION:
Branson once said, ‘If you ask any successful business person, they will always have had a great mentor at some point along the road.’ – And he was right! Branson went to Laker during his struggles to get Virgin Atlantic up and running. ‘It’s always good to have a helping hand at the start. I wouldn’t have got anywhere in the airline industry
without the mentorship of Sir Freddie Laker.’
REFLECTION:
Do you think you are better with a Mentor than without?
