WALKING WORTHY: RENEW YOUR MIND

SCRIPTURE: “And be not conformed to this world: but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind, that ye may prove what [is] that good, and acceptable, and perfect, will of God.” (Romans 12:2 KJV)

QUOTE: “Most of all, let the word of God fill you and renew your mind every day. When our minds are on Christ, Satan has little room to maneuver.” – Billy Graham

NOTE:

Leadership involves responding to God’s mercy and grace by continually renewing your mind, and living in His will. Isaiah encountered a manifestation of the Lord Jesus Christ, resulting to a mind shift; He exclaimed: “My eyes have seen the King, the Lord of Hosts”……. O wretched man that I am!” John clarified this reality in his Gospel as he referred to Isaiah’s vision: This is why they were unable to believe, because Isaiah also said: That the Devil has blinded their eyes and hardened their hearts, so that they would not see with their eyes nor understand with their hearts, and be converted, and I would heal them.” (John 12:39-40; Isaiah 6:9-10.) John then explained, “Isaiah said these things because he saw His [Jesus’] glory and spoke about Him [Jesus]” (John 12:41). Revelation of God also unveils the reality of our inadequacies and unworthiness. However, when as a leader you discover yourself in the light of His revelation, you are expected to make adjustments. This is humility!

ILLUSTRATION:

“Then the people of Nineveh believed in God; and they called a fast and put on sackcloth from the greatest to the least of them. When the word reached the king of Nineveh, he arose from his throne, laid aside his robe from him, covered himself with sackcloth and sat on the ashes. He issued a proclamation and it said, “In Nineveh by the decree of the king and his nobles: Do not let man, beast, herd, or flock taste a thing. Do not let them eat or drink water. But both man and beast must be covered with sackcloth; and let men call on God earnestly that each may turn from his wicked way and from the violence which is in his hands. Who knows, God may turn and relent and withdraw His burning anger so that we will not perish.” When God saw their deeds, that they turned from their wicked ways, then God relented concerning the calamity which He had declared He would bring upon them. And He did not do it.”

REFLECTION:

In view of all that God has done for us through Jesus Christ, why do some Christians continue to “walk according to the flesh” rather than “according to the Spirit”
