WALKING WORTHY: PRIORITIZING

SCRIPTURE: “That ye might walk worthy of the Lord unto all pleasing, being fruitful in every good work, and increasing in the knowledge of God.” (Colossians 1:10 KJV)

QUOTE: “The key is not to prioritize what is on your schedule, but to schedule your priorities.” –Stephen Covey

NOTE:

All Leaders are to determine in their hearts to do what is right according to God’s will, trusting Him to meet all of their needs. Unfortunately, some Christians will enter heaven without any rewards. Everything they’ve built on the foundation of Christ in this world will be like “wood, hay, or straw” and may be reduced to ashes (1Corinthians 3:10-15). The message is clear: we must stop pursuing things that have no eternal value. Now is the time to “sow righteousness” and “reap faithful love and mercy” (Hosea 10:12).

ILLUSTRATION:

When Jesus taught the disciples on the hillside overlooking the Sea of Galilee, perhaps He was thinking about Hosea’s challenge to the people of Israel when He said, “seek ye first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things will be provided for you” (Matthew 6:33). The children of Israel were certainly not seeking God’s kingdom in Hosea’s day, but rather their own worldly experiences. As a result, they suffered the consequences. All they had was taken from them when the Assyrians invaded and took them captive.

REFLECTION:

In what ways can we build on the foundation of Jesus Christ with gold, silver, and precious stones; such that will not be destroyed by fire?
