SCRIPTURE: “And I sent messengers unto them, saying, I am doing a great work, so that I cannot come down: why should the work cease, whilst I leave it, and come down to you?” (Nehemiah 6:3 KJV)
QUOTE: “The barrier to success is not something which exists in the real world; it is composed purely and simply of doubts about ability.” – Franklin D. Roosevelt
NOTE:
Breaking new grounds is about taking giants steps and making bold moves in the pursuit of your vision and life’s purpose. This is a typical characteristic of leaders that are built to last. We saw it practically in the life of Nehemiah as observed from our text today. However, to be able to achieve this feat, we must be ready to engage positively and always “be on the go”. Procrastination have become a major giant killer in the life of most leaders. This makes them become slow, slack and lazy, leading to failure sometimes! Most times they are unable to generate results nor make progress because the time to hit the real target has passed due to procrastination.
IILLUSTRATION:
“David asked the men who were standing with him, “What will be done for the man who kills this Philistine and removes this disgrace from Israel? Just who is this uncircumcised Philistine, that he should defy the armies of the living God?” The people told him about the offer, saying, “That is what will be done for the man who kills him…
As the Philistine started forward to attack him, David ran quickly toward the battle line to meet him. Then David reached into his bag, took out a stone, and slung it, striking the Philistine on the forehead. The stone sank into his forehead, and he fell face down on the ground.”
REFLECTION:
- How do you react when face with a daunting assignment?
- How do you manage the resistances on any given project?
