BIBLICAL LEADERSHIP NUGGETS 6

SCRIPTURE: “And seeing one of [them] suffer wrong, he defended and avenged him who was oppressed, and struck down the Egyptian – Acts 7:24

QUOTE: “Leaders put their own interests aside to protect us or to pull us into the future….” – Simon Sinek

NOTE:

Great Leaders Defend Those Who They Are Called To Lead. A Leader is a Defender.

Defending those you lead makes them feel valued and secure because they know you “have their back.” This can also be a motivation for your team to put in their best in their tasks. When followers feel safe and valued, they can do much more than is expected or required of them. The result of this will be an improved overall productivity of the team. Great Leaders are defenders of those they lead.

ILLUSTRATION:

“And David said unto Saul, Thy servant kept his father’s sheep, and there came a lion, and a bear, and took a lamb out of the flock: And I went out after him, and smote him, and delivered it out of his mouth: and when he arose against me, I caught him by his beard, and smote him, and slew him. Thy servant slew both the lion and the bear: and this uncircumcised Philistine shall be as one of them, seeing he hath defied the armies of the living God. David said moreover, The Lord that delivered me out of the paw of the lion, and out of the paw of the bear, he will deliver me out of the hand of this Philistine. And Saul said unto David, Go, and the Lord be with thee. (1Sam. 17:34-37 KJV)

REFLECTION: As a leader, can you say with all certainty that those you lead trust you enough to believe that you will defend them against the predators of this world where and when necessary?
