DISCIPLINE FOR SUCCESS 4

SCRIPTURE: “For the moment all discipline seems painful rather than pleasant, but later it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it.” (Hebrews 12:11)

QUOTE: “For a man to conquer himself is the first and noblest of all victories. ” – Plato

NOTE:

Discipline in its simplest form is operating as demanded not as convenient. No one ever gets distinguished in any field of human endeavor without the virtue of discipline. It is discipline that begets distinction. If we must be distinguished as leaders then we must be disciplined. We must recognize that discipline is not a gift, but a lifestyle of choice we design and submit to. This is because no one will ever be more distinguished in his pursuit than he is disciplined.

ILLUSTRATION:

We saw how on the platform of discipline Joseph emerged a champion distinguished in a foreign land. Genesis 39. Several opportunities popped up for him to sink and go down but he was highly disciplined.  Potiphar admired him so much and demanded that he must flirt with her. It became so serious that she held him in a tight corner but Joseph ran for his life and broke the window. Accused falsely of that act, he ended up in prison but later got promoted because of his attitude of discipline and ended up as the king’s assistant.

REFLECTION:

What are the challenges you’ve gone through and how did you overcome them by discipline?
