MENTORSHIP 4

SCRIPTURE: For your very lives are our “letters of recommendation,” permanently engraved on our hearts, recognized and read by everybody. (2 Corinthians 3:2 TPT)

QUOTE: “A mentor is someone who sees more talent and ability within you, than you see in yourself, and helps bring it out of you.” —Bob Proctor

NOTE:

Mentorship is slowly eroding out in this our modern generation because the young people will say they don’t care about looking up to anyone or those whom have set the pace in specific spheres of life. They come up with slogans like “we’ve got new ideas, and their ways are archaic” But if you are not diligent in followership you will become indigent.

Mentors never got there by wishing but by hard work, discipline and diligence. There’s no new generational truth that can erode mentorship. Jesus started and built a pattern of mentorship for us to strictly adhere to and follow, to become more of him. We cannot do anything against the truth in mentorship, why? Because every mentor is sounding a trumpet on the mentee if they are willing and obedient to adhere, so they too can excel in life and leadership.

ILLUSTRATION:

Moses got to points in leadership that the burdens were so heavy going to kill himself ignorantly, but for the timely intervention of his father in-law, Jethro, who started mentoring him on leadership responsibilities, delegation, team playing etc. At another point in his leadership journey, he cried out, (“I am not able to bear this entire people alone, because it is too heavy for me. And the LORD said unto Moses, Gather unto me seventy men of the elders of Israel, whom thou knowest to be the elders of the people, and officers over them; and bring them unto the tabernacle of the congregation, that they may stand there with thee.”) Numbers 11:14-16 KJV.

This became the turning point for Mosses in leadership where the spirit in him was transferred to the seventy elders and the burden of leadership was released from him.

REFLECTION:

  1. Are you currently under a mentor?
  2. How much do you know about your mentor’s journey?
