SCRIPTURE: “The Apostles and Leaders called a special meeting to consider the matter.” (Acts 15:6 MSG.)
QUOTE: “Creativity is not the domain of one single person. Through free association of thoughts and brainstorming, an accidental suggestion can be the best solution” – Joshua Fernandez
NOTE:
Great Leaders Brainstorm With Their Team. As a Leader, you must listen to your core team members and get them in on certain decisions or deliberations. Great Leaders understand that two(2) are better than one and they engage their leadership team to proffer solutions to problems that arise. They do not try to solve problems alone. They rather “pick the brains” of those within their inner circle. An African Proverb says “If you want to go Fast go alone; if you want to go Far, go together.” It’s easier to find solutions when you brainstorm or deliberate with your team than when you brainstorm or deliberate by yourself.
The expression “two heads are better than one” reflects the intuition that people working in groups are more likely to come to a correct decision than they would if working as individuals. This may be because the individual with the correct answer is able to convince other group members because they have the answer, in other words, it is easier for two people who help each other to solve a problem better and faster, than it is for one person to solve same problem alone. Great Leaders engage this principle of problem solving. They have brainstorming sessions with their team, and by so doing, proffer the best solutions as fastest as possible.
ILLUSTRATION:
“He answered and said to Arioch the king’s captain, “Why is the decree from the king so urgent?” Then Arioch made the decision known to Daniel. So Daniel went in and asked the king to give him time, that he might tell the king the interpretation. 17 Then Daniel went to his house, and made the decision known to Hananiah, Mishael, and Azariah, his companions….”
REFLECTION:
As a Leader, do you have scheduled brainstorming sessions with your team where you discuss solutions to problems as they arise?
